The Digital Football

About

The Digital Football is a web based American Football Simulation by discord user gijoequ. As a player you choose a team to support and place bets using the game's own currency known as Tokens. These tokens can then be used to vote for various team decisions, bid for players and also buy collectable cards. Collectable cards also give a chance to drop items that can be given to players and coaches to use.

The Team I Support

Being a non-US resident I was drawn towards the Montreal Roundbirds (and also round birds are cool). They're a nice bunch and have grown quite a bit since we won our first Digital Bowl in Season 5.

Betting Guide

A betting guide by discord user mangohabanero is available based on lots of nice data that I am not smart enough to explain. The guide is often referred to as The Oracle and usually has somewhere between a 60-70% success rate. The simple version of the betting guide is what I personally use and my strategy so far is:

  • I go all-in (50 tokens) on predictions with 90+ confidence.
  • I put a smaller amount (around 20-30 tokens) on predictions with confidence 50-90.
  • Anything below 50 confidence I will often use any tokens I can subtract from my total in order to round it down to the nearest 10.
  • I accept no responsibility for your tokens, gamble sensibly kids!

Item Guide

Items come as a drop chance from cards that you own. The drop chance triggers each time that card's corresponding team completes a game. Cards can be given to any player on any team by anyone (even supporters of other teams). Here's a little guide to items compiled by the Roundbird's very own strategic master Todd Bonzalez:

As of season 7, items are now split into Consumable and Passive categories:

Passive Items (P)

  • Passive items scale in power based on their level
  • Passive items are completely removed at end of each game, instead of reducing by 1 level

Consumable Items (C)

  • Consumable items now have a variable trigger chance based on level
  • Consumable items are removed completely once used, rather than reducing by 1 level
  • Unused consumable items carry over to the next game

Protection Items:
๐Ÿฆโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ Phoenix Feather, ๐Ÿ’ฐ Protection Money - Give to a player whose Age is greater than 31. Or a player you can't afford to have get hurt. โ˜” Umbrella - Give to a player you want to protect from negative weather. Someone your team can't afford to lose.

Defense Effect Items:

Relationship Items:
๐ŸŒป Small Town Charm, ๐Ÿ˜Ž Sunglasses, ๐Ÿฉณ Surf Shorts - Give to a player whose relationships you care about. Best on younger players with ๐Ÿฅฐ Loved chemistry.

Cleansing Items:
๐Ÿ Antivenom, ๐Ÿงป Toilet Paper - Can be used to remove a negative status effect (Zeus, Damp, etc.) from a player.

Coach Items:
